Our children will blossom through experiencing a knowledge-rich curriculum which is both broad and balanced and fosters a love of learning, enabling all children to make a difference.
We have chosen to follow the National Curriculum and the breadth of our curriculum ensures that there are no limits to learning and our pupils are encouraged to embrace every learning opportunity that is presented to them.
Our curriculum is the beating heart of our academies and is rooted in John 10:10
Our children will flourish through experiencing a knowledge-rich curriculum which is both broad and balanced and fosters a love of learning, enabling all children to make connections and be well prepared for the next stage of their education.
Our curriculum is the beating heart of life here All Saints’ Thurlestone C of E Academy; it has been carefully crafted and organised so that all of our children gain the necessary knowledge and skills to take them forwards into the next stage of their education and beyond.
Our curriculum is ambitious; we want our pupils to achieve the impossible whilst also developing the determination to succeed at whatever they set their minds to. Our ambition gives us the purpose and desire to create change in our local communities and within the wider world beyond. By leaning into our Christian vision of Together we shine like stars reflected on the sea, we want our pupils to be empowered so that they can enact change.
The curriculum is based on the acquisition of knowledge and skills which provide the fundamental blocks of learning for each subject. Carefully chosen content enables all of our children to meet new and exciting concepts across a range of subjects; learning is sequential and through the scope of our curriculum, it is layered reiteratively so that prior learning is built upon.
Through conscious and considerate choices, we have designed our curriculum with the children at the heart. We ensure that key areas of study address any gaps in pupils’ experiences. It enables our pupils to enhance their understanding of what it means to be a citizen in modern Britain, whilst also exploring and supporting their local community and the communities beyond. We explore what it means to develop their cultural capital, giving them opportunities and choices to shape their future and their impact on society as they progress through their school years and beyond.
